M9/M13 tempo question

i am thinking about buying either one of these units but i need to know the answer to my question first because it will make or break the deal for me
i know you can set each effect to synce with notes/tap tempo
and you can also program in the milliseconds of a single effect
does the "TEMPO" setting where you set a tempo for a specific effect or is it global?
or does it only set the tempo for that particular scene
basically i would like to set multiple effects for different tempo because my band plays to tracks and we have a metronome in our ears
so can i preprogram effects one one scene to a certain tempo, then page up to my next scene and the tempo for the next song already programmed?
i hope what i am asking makes sense
i am basically wanting to avoid using the tap tempo for anything since we are playing to a preset tempo already
p.s. does the looper have built in quantization?
The bpm is saved with the scene, and the tap tempo effects all effects that have note value in that scene. If you switch to a different scene, the tempo resets to the tempo saved with that scene.
There is no quantization with the loop.
can i get a second confirmation from someone else on this?
if so, then i am sold!!!
What my word's not good enough?![]()
Here's what the Advanced User's Guide says:
A new Tempo parameter has been implemented. When setting up a Scene, enter Setup Mode by pressing and holding the Looper Controls switch, and you’ll see a Tempo setting displayed in BPM in the lower left of the FX2 LCD. To set a specific tempo for your Scene, simply adjust Knob 3. The selected tempo will be stored with your Scene.
in that case im sold
i assume that apply's to both M9 and M13 models
i tried finding that in the manual but i dont think i downloaded the advanced manual though
let me ask another question
say i want to program 6 delays of different tempos of one scene
can i do that still?
Yes you can do that, but not with BPM, but by milliseconds.
Basically you have 2 choices with every time based effect.
1) A specific millisecond value
or
2) A note value (whole, half, quarter, eight, sixteenth, triplet sixteenth, various dotted, etc) that is synced to the tap tempo or the per scene BPM setting.
So you could have 6 delays with six exact millisecond settings (the math to convert BPM to millisecond is simple). And you could have 6 more delays that all have note values that will sync with the tap or BPM.
Make sense?
i have one more question (for now at least
)
how do you know if you M13/M9 is up to date with the current firmware?
With the m13 you can see it in the second screen while tuning. Don't konw 'bout the m9
AFAIK there is no page that displays the version of the firmware installed on a M9. But it's quite easy to find out whether or not you are running the current version (2.01).
Option 1: Search for the "Bass Octaver" Model in the Distortion Models group. If it's there, the current version is installed.
Option 2: Chose any slow modulation. Check if hitting the TAP footswitch once restarts the LFO cycle. If yes, the current version is installed.
There are also other ways to find out, but this should do :-)
