I have a Spider Jam and I am happy with it, but I've heard people talking about the Fender G-Dec 30. I can still return the SJ if I want to but I really do like it. Any input either way would be appreciated. Should I get the Fender instead?
Thanx for the link, it just confirmed my thoughts. I have no problems with my Spider Jam and it sounds great. I actually play a bit everyday now because of it. I Googled - Fender G-Dec vs Spider Jam - and nobody seems to have anything good to say about the Fender, but plenty of positive things to say about the SJ. Jam on...
There is a new Fender G-DEC 3 due out in April. Might be worth keeping an eye on.

I tried a G-DEC 30 before buying my Spider Jam. I was not impressed at all. It sounded like a cheap Casio keyboard on the backing tracks and the tones were terrible.
Before I bought my Spider Jam in Aug 2008 I had done extensive research of the GDEC and played through one at a local music store. As far as I knew at that time Fender was the only mfg with a 'jamming' amplifier.
I thought tte GDEC sounded pretty cool and the day I was ready to order the GDEC I just happened upon a review of the recently released Line 6 Spider Jam.
Just based on the review I read about the Spider Jam I decided against the GDEC.
None of the local dealers had any Spider Jam amps in stock and I was told by one Line 6 dealer that he had no idea when he would one into stock.
So I ordered one from musiciansfriend.com
I had not even heard or played through a Spider Jam until I received mine. I was very pleased to find that the Spider Jam is so far superior to the GDEC that they are not even comparable.
IMO the only way Fender is going to compete with the SJ is if the new GDEC 3 is a total redesign.
If you campare a SJ side by side with GDEC the GDEC looks and sounds like a toy.
I returned the G-Dec after finding out that you only get 28 seconds of recording time. I exchanged it for a Spiderjam, 25+ minutes of recording time, plust SD card, better sounding drums, etc, no contest. I believe someone already described the G-Dec as a toy, an expensive one at that. Go with the Spiderjam.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
