Wow, thanks Hans, and thank Horst for us. excellent
They are going to sell boatloads of these
Ask Horst if he could do a few more, you know we can never get enough of a new thing around here![]()
There have been request to have a no model loaded, and what it would sound like with an acoustic guitar through POD HD.
This clip is made and submitted by Jason Lynn (thanks Jason)

Wow. Those Fender amps sound sweet. Although I'd have loved to hear what kind of drip the reverb gets on these mods.
Hans that Hiwatt + Tube OD sounds killer! Wow!
Thank you, Hans.
Goodness gracious.
The good thing with having only 16 amps at this stage is it will allow more to be added in the future
well one would only hope

Thanks Hans (and Jason). I've played around a little bit trying to get a good acoustic guitar sound from my HD400 and haven't even come close to what I hear from Jason. I notice, though, that he's running the HD500 output into a Firefox 800 audio device, using its onboard mic preamps. I wonder to what extent the resulting tonal quality is being flavoured by the Firefox vs. the POD HD? Any way to assess that? Could I ask Jason the favour of recording the same HD500 output directly into the DAW over the HD500 USB connection (bypassing the Firefox) and let us compare the results?
That would be great if possible.
Thanks.
Hey Silverhead,
The preamps in my Fireface are just so so...the box is a great converter/interface but there is no magic in those preamps. I have some API and UA preamps and purposefully stayed away from using those as not to create any misconceptions of where the "tone" was coming from. The tonal differences would be minor had I used the HD direct. I guess I should have but my rig is already set so I took the easy path when I started recording clips this morning.
That Larrivee has a great tone and I'm pretty happy with the B-band p'up system. What's your acoustic setup?
Great clips Jason.
Thanks to you and Hans for sharing them with us. I currently use the X3L + Variax Ac 700 (or Breedlove AC/SR Plus) but have been getting more gig time using my electrics. Would love to "upgrade" to the HD series but have been reading how its not a good unit for acoustics. Your clip shows it certainly does have potential.
Basically, I'm looking for a unit that I can use for both purposes. The X3L is great for that, but I favor the M series effects & their tonal quality. I also heard some great clips of an M9 with acoustics so I started leaning toward that and adding a Tech 21 Liverpool as the amp mod for the electric.
Again with your clip, I may now be considering the HD line.
Any other acoustic clips (even from other sources) would also be gratly appreciated!

I seem to remember reading or hearing in a video blurb about the (same basic idea as X3) that the individual HD amp models can be run in "preamp" only mode? eliminating all cab and mic.. I'd guess that would be a good place to work with acoustic guitar processing, with some comps and reverbs, chorus, etc. Or, at least just acoustic > preamp model, try to dial in something warm and tasty. Low gain settings on any number of those amp models would likely do the trick! I think the same *might* be applicable to bass? To at least be able to get a proper DI type bass signal, with some EQ, noise gate, compression - and the M class FX... Bass with three part auto harmony up an octave!
I have the HD500 and have had since June. I've found it to be pretty good with acoustic and VAC 700 guitars. Whilst it's true there arer no specific 'acoustic' amp models at present, an acoustic can be made to sound good either by using no amp model or one of the clean 'Fender' full amp models or Pre's. You might need to play about a bit to get something like what you want, but it is perfectly possible.

Nick
Thanks Man! I really neded to hear this kind of demo (just amps/no fx) b/c I wasn't really so sure after hearing tones from the official L6 web page. Those should be replaced with yours asap. The unit sounds great. I'm buying one.

RapidShare is PAINFUL!! Any chance those can get uploaded to a thread here at Line 6 discussions where people are not penalized 15 minute wait periods between downloads? No offense to RapidShare, I just don't feel inclined to give them money in order to hear Horsts clips..
Thanks!
I'll look into it, to see what we can do to accomodate.
Regards
- Hans
While RapidShare may be painful, those audio clips and your playing sure aren't! Meaning, great stuff, Horst, keep up the good work!!!
Liking the very minimal approach, just showcase the amp model, the vibe, the sound, pick attack, dynamics. It's easy to layer compression, chorus, reverb, delay, eq, and all this other stuff in to tweak a tone into submission. Liking the raw, showcase approach!
The X3 forum still allows you to attach up to 5 .mp3 files per post, so....that's what I did!
Meanwhile, getting the last of Horsts' clips, RapidShare got overworked, it needs to breathe for 14 more minutes before it can hanlde another 3M download... just like their slogan says: "Waiting (for RapidShare) Sucks!".
Cheers ![]()
Ok, I finally gave these clips a proper listen today, loaded them onto a USB thumb drive and played thru the Bluray player into the proper stereo system in the living room, rather than the tiny (albeit decent) Roland desktop mini-monitors I had connected to the computer..
In a word : Crank It Up!!! These clips actually sound better at louder volumes, they really hold up well. I was hearing weird fizziness thru the little speakers, but having the same clips cranked up right now through the Sony receiver and it sounds realllly nice..

These clips sound awesome, way better when cranked up loud! Again, thanks to Hans and Horst~
Thanks, Brion, that rapidshare was a headache!
Lotta fine tones there. That Gibson model is going to make a lot of Robben Ford and Larry Carlton tone fans happy, me among them.
To me sounded very " Dumblish"
I gotta sell some stuff, quick
Does anyone know if the New HD amp models will available for the POD X3 Pro for download? Any help is appreciated?

I'm 99.999999% sure there won't be such an update. The processor in the HD series is far, far more powerful than that in the X3, and the amp models themselves reportedly include ten times the data of the X3 amp models.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, dude.
Cheers,
Fester2k
Any chance we can hear how well it switches presets??? For live purposes![]()

In addtion to several emailrequests and forum notices. I've added a second download link for the Horst Keller clips. They now can also be downloaded right from the vettaville.nl servers.
Please try the normal link first to not overheat the severs here please.
Hope it helps, and thanks for interacting
