You need to download and install Line 6 Monkey (from the downloads page). Then connect your HD500 to the computer, run Monkey and it will allow you to update the firmware.

You can't download the firmware updates from a web page ...

Re: Pod HD 500 web-site patches

There's a bunch of user designed presets for the HD500 up on Custom Tone and you can download these and try them in your HD500 using HD500 Edit.

I created a set list which contains all the basic amp models, some basic FX (same in all 64 presets) and which are organised in banks of four presets each representing Clean, Slightly dirty, Crunch and Solo.  The amp presets are all at default settings so therefore they are as programmed in the factory except for minor changes to Drive and Channel Volume settings.  These aren't intended to be great or well designed patches but just a way of getting all the amps in order in a single set list to try out really.  If any of the patches sound good, then that's down to the way Line 6 have set up the amp defaults rather than anything I've done.  If any of the patches sound bad or really bad - someone else must have made them and run away before I noticed

The link to that is here: http://line6.com/community/thread/46526

I'm not sure if you're talking about the firmware or not. I think you may be talking about the demo sounds from the product page. If so, I don't think those are part of the factory presets (in the firmware). I don't know of any way to download those patches - I think they're just the audio wav files.

    I've recently got a New HD500.

The Tones that exist already are beautiful.

Could anyone help me making a Perfect Djent Tone?

Some of the patches have been downloaded to Custom Tone by Line 6. Do a search for "sound samples" under HD500.

You don't use Monkey to manage patches.

      1. First go to 'Customtone' using your web browser - there is a link at the top of this page.
      2. Next, choose the patches that you are interested in and download them to your PC, using the  web browser.
      3. Next, download and install 'HD Edit' for your pod from the link here http://line6.com/software/ .  This is the program that you use for patch building and management
      4. Finally, use HD Edit to upload the patches that you got from customtone onto your pod.

Monkey is used to keep your Pod (and PC) software up to date but not used for patch editing or uploads.
