Please help me connect my PODxt Live to a passive floor monitor

The contenders:
Line 6 PODxt Live
Yamaha A12M
The arena:
I'd like to run both amp modeling and effects from the POD to the floor monitor.
I've got all sorts of cables: mono 1/4, stereo 1/4, XLR
The situation:
No sound when running stereo 1/4 from left out/mono on POD
Intermittent low volume sound when running stereo 1/4 from headphone out on POD
The verdict?
Is the PODxt Live meant to plug in directly to a passive monitor? What cables, settings, and outputs should I be using on the PODxt Live to get this accomplished?
Thanks in advance.

Hello!
I am stuck at "Passive".
Passive to me (in this arena) means to have a Speaker without an amplifier.
Pods Are not Power Amps to provide Speakers Power.
So I am not sure if I understand your question..........
Loony is right.... you need a power amp somewhere... a pod does not provide any power
