Can I tune the JTV-69 using POD X3 Live without connecting via 1/4"?

Hi There,
I've got my JTV-69 connected to my POD X3 Live via the ethernet cable that came with it and when I switch the POD X3 Live into guitar tuning mode, it seems to be confused about what notes my guitar is playing. If I connect using the 1/4" cable, it works fine. Is it possible to tune the JTV-69 with the POD X3 Live using only the ethernet cable?
Thanks!
Scott
Yes - it should be able to detect the pitch frequencies from the JTV and provide stable tuning - just make sure that you don't have the JTV playing an alternate tuning via its DSP plus the magnetic pups outputting standard tuning at the same time because that would confuse the heck out of any tuner.
I don't have my JTV yet to verify tuning with my X3 Live however....

100% answer is yes you can using the VDI connection provided you follow the instructions already give by the previous post. the simplest way to tune is to make certai that you TURN OFF the modeling, and then you are always in Mag pup only setting, so it's won't matter what channel, or what model tuning you might have you guitar set to if it is always shut off when tuning.
Also keep in mind that you DO NOT HALVE to tune to 440 aka Standard tuing on the physical strings of the JTV. I play in one band that plays everything a 1/2 step so instead of taking way my ability to change guitar patches when using the alt tune knob to change standard to 1/2 down tuning, or limit my performance options to changing guitar models manually. i simply tune the string down to the typical pitch the band plays in and then if I need both mag & modeled sounds, I CAN do them. I can also always use the alt tuning knob for songs requiring open tunings, or other special tunings I've programmed. BUT they will ALWAYS be BASED OFF OF THE REAL STRING TUNING - NOT what the atl tune knob says. Such as, Standard tune on the alt knob when the STRINGS are tuned a 1/2 step down is a 1/2 step down tuning in standard modeling tune. I hope I've made this point clear enough so everyone understands.
It seems to be a big stumbling point since many users think that the guitar adjusts the actual strings to an alternate tune. No in the case of the Variax of JTV guitars. AND when using the Alt tune knob - IT OVERRIDES ALL PATCHES CHANGES FROM THE POD HD500, XT, X3, etc. To keep your guitar patches changing with your amp patches, the alt tune knob MUST BE in the MODEL position!! I learned this the hard way. :-)
Take care,
Neal
