My new JTV-89

I just recieved my new JTV-89 black. I really like the neck, very thin and the fret work is excellent. My decision to replace my JTV-69 with this guitar was the right one. The playability is excellent, and the balance is great. I know most people on this forum are enamored with the 59 or the 69, but don't sleep on the 89 it has alot to offer. This is my third JTV and it is by far the best fit and finish of the three. The only flaw I found was the set screw on the bridge is cross threaded. I have thrown together a track using the D28 model and the Sitar model. It's just drums and guitar, no bass. BTW I'm playing thru my HD500 direct to Sonar Producer X1.

I posted in another thread that I finally got my 59. The guitar sounds great but the neck is quite thick for me. I have thought about getting an 89. Is there a big difference in playability? Is the neck size quite noticable? Are all the models and capabilities the same? I also thought about switching to .009-42s to help

  The neck is super thin but not quite as wide as a PRS. I love the balance. I thought the frets were well dressed and not overly jumbo. The action was slinky, but not loose. I play with 10's and they are real bendable. The harmonics are all instantly playable at the 5th, 7th, and 12th frets.

    Those are sweet! All the electronics and capabilities are the same as the 59 right?

      Yes all the modeling is the same, only the tunnings are different.

        And if I understand correctly, I can always replace the factory tunnings with my own. Sounds like I have nothing to lose other than I really like the design and color of the 59. Is the 89 neck heavy like my 59 is?

        No it's a well balanced neck, not heavy at all. And yes you can change the tunnings.
