M9 Position

Hello,

I'd like to buy an M9 stbx modeler and I own a Fender Princeton Recording Amp. I'd like to know where I should put the M9 in the sound chain If I want to preserve the original dry sound of the amp and its dynamics. Before the amp input or in the effects loop? What are the pros and cons?

    Hey savedeluca,

I would recommend connecting in the effects loop of the amp, if you are concerned with preserving your amps tone. Placing the M9 if the effects loop, will allow your preamp tone to be unaffected, and will use this preamp to send to the M9, instead of a direct guitar signal if you were to use the M9 in front of the amp. Most modulation and time based reverb/delay effects sounds better in the effects loop, the only thing that sounds better going into the front of the amp are distortion type effects.
