using the HD500 as a pre-amp with a power amp?

Hi,
I was thinking of using my POD HD500 as a pre-amp and buying a power amp and maybe a 2x12 cab.
Would something like that be a good idea?
Would a solid state power amp be ok or should I get a tube power amp?
I saw the Rocktron Velocity power amps are not very expensive, but they are solid state.
Any opinions/advice?
Thanks,
Lars
I use a Spider Valve HD100 I picked up for $400 and a Peavey 4x12 when I need to. (I usually go direct). I figured the head would be fairly neutral sounding and it's REALLY loud so it's pretty sweet. ![]()
Thanks guys !
yes, i have 3 main ways i use the HD 500. One is into the spider valve combo. One is into a Mesa 2:95 power amp into a H&K Attax 4x12. The other is direct to my DAW. All 3 ways sound great, but you do have to dial in your sounds differently for the setup you are using.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
