Use of the onboard expression pedal as a standard expression pedal

Hello,

 

I know that the 1/4" jack on the floorboard FBV's with expression pedals allow for an external expression to be connected, therefore binding the onboard pedal to use as a wah while the external one is used as a volume pedal.

 

Is it possible that the 1/4'' jack can be used as an output? For example, if I connected it to a MIDI converter and used the onboard expression pedal to control my DigiTech Whammy?
