problems with my g90

After about 20 minutes of using my wireless, it is cutting output level. I run a tube amp that cleans up really well when you roll back the volume, so you can imagine why that might be detrimental to a guy in a metal band! the batteries are fresh, and the body pack says they are still at full charge. any ideas?

    How much do you thinkk it's dropping?  10% 50% 90%???

     

    While Line 6 digital wireless battery condition does not affect sound quality or level.  Remember we are sending data not audio.

     

    It's possible that the output section has a problem, but this could also be caused by things other than Relay.  Can you try it with a different amp and guitar?

     

    A proper test would be to send a sine wave into the transmitter and then monitor the level over time to see if or how much it changes.  This would be relatively easy to do if you had some recording equipment.  This would give you a much better understand of what is happening.

      its seems like around 15%. just enough to kill gain. no issue when i run directly into the amp, i have tried it a few times  with a few different setups. i will have to do that. Its really frustrating.

      The only thing i MIGHT think it could be is the cable to the unit itself. but that seems unlikely

        I can't explain it.  If the level is actually dropping I would suspect some sort of hardware failoure.  There's nothing in the "digital RF" that can cause this.  Battery condition also does not cause any changes to audio level or audio quality.

         

        You can try the test I outlined above and see what is happening.  If you see a drop that would rule out other things in your system being the cause.

    will do.

    I have only had it since august, I purchased it, and tested it for around 10 minutes after setting up, played a show with it, and noticed a loss of gain on stage. I figured it was one of my pedals or a tube or something, so after checking all of that, i plugged the wireless in at home. Played for 10 or so minutes, no issues, set my rig up at practice 2 weeks ago, practiced for about 2 hours. First 30 min or so sounded great, then gain died. Unplugged all other pathes, just ran the wireless, still no gain. I plugged right into the head, Voila, gain back. I think i will try a new cable before i send the whole thing back. Its got less than 3 hours on it. and when it does work, teh sound quality is great! just need to figure out why its doing this.

    i will give the test a shot.

      Let us know your results once you are able to test your Relay G90 as dboomer suggested above.

    I am workin on it. I would really just love to send it back and get a new one, as I dont really feel like Troublshooting and testing is my job. But I will post once i can figure out how to do it

      Oh still havnt gotten to get to a studio to sine wave it yet, but i was playing with it yesterday. it almost appears as if it is losing RF signal completely. both sides of the led meter bar flicker off. I have used the unit live once and its sat in a rack since then due to the issues, so it hasnt been abused or tossed around. i will try to take video of the phenominae later this week.

        Hey Phil

         

        We always have two potential problems when someone posts a problem like yours ... it's either a hardware problem or a local condition problem.  What I attempt to do here on the forum is to guess best I can which one it is so that people don't unnecessarly send in their gear and are left without it for the couple of weeks it takes to send it to us.

         

        Since you started this thread in September and it's now December it appears that the time element isn't the most important thing to you.  Why don't you just contact our service department, send it in , and have us test and or fix it and get it back to you.  We'd be happy to take care of it.

    Indeed the time isnt a huge factor, we are going to be in the studio and off of shows till about april. How do i go about contacting a local autherized tech? I Generally blame user error so that is what i was slow to jump on that lol. I have tried to trouble shoot it in three different places though with no luck. Heres hoping. It really is a very well built product, and sounds great in bursts!

        got it back, i think i figured it out. its only when i am moving. I think it is a bad cable or a bad connection to the jack in the unit. since it is out of warrenty i am gonna build a new cable, and see if that works. After that i will take the bodypack to my Electronics guy and see if he cant shore up the connection. Sorry about the delayed response, I always forget about forums!
