Have you got a link to something by Lincoln Brewster which outlines what you mean.

We don't tend to hear much of Lincoln Brewster's music here in the UK

When I think of a big and thick sound from single note playing, I normally think in terms of a fairly lush chorus followed by a big spacey type digital delay and some reverb but I'm not sure if that's the kind of thing you have in mind.
