Received JTV-69 today - bummer :-(

Hi all,

I just received a new Korean JTV-69 from Amazon today.  Was really looking forward to playing it, but the high E string was broken when I opened the package.  The G string can't be tuned up - it keeps slipping and there isn't enough of it to rethread through the hole in the capstan.

I also suspect I don't understand how the locking tuners are supposed to work.  I tried slipping in a replacement to the high E and tuning up.  However, locking the tuner makes the string a bit sharp, and loosening it makes it very very flat.  So much so that it seems like I can make the string go arbitrarily flat by just tightening and loosening the locking knob.

All in all, I'm quite bummed.  The "Strung with D'Addario" tag that hangs from the tuning peg just mocks me.  :-\

Somehow, I feel that a $1400 guitar should arrive in better shape ... is this a Line 6 or an Amazon issue?

Was the guitar supplied double boxed, sealed and inside its padded gig bag?   When you opened the box was there a sheet of paper listing the contents?

If not it would appear the guitar might have been previously unpacked by Amazon for some reason.

that's not great, which is annoying when you've just got something new... but nick's right to question how the guitar was packaged.

realistically I would always put a new set of strings on a guitar, as they will have been on that guitar from anything from a month upwards I would think.

at the end of the day it's a £5 fix to what sounds like an otherwise great guitar... but of course you could insist that Amazon supply you the strings, or refund you the cost of them.

      Cheers
