Analog chorus panning left

I have noticed that the Analog Chorus effect increases the output in the left path more than the right path. I'm using it behind the mixer, so not on on path of a dual path. I have to pan the mixer to compensate. I've read that this is a stereo effect. Ok, great. But why is the output so much higher on one side than the other? Is this a bug, or is this how the original unit actually behaved?
Stay in the mix and in the know.
