just got the HD500 and im using it on a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL602. i am completely new to the POD and i can't seem to get a good sound out of my amp. i've got a clean sound on the amp and the bass/mid/treb all at 5, but the sound coming from the POD has too much trebel. i am trying to use the POD to control it, but just cant get a good sound. i know half my problem is me just not knowing much about the HD500 yet.
the other half is choosing an amp. i am trying to sell my Marshall and get a small non-combo amp. wondering what you all play with an HD500. if any of you happen to use a Marshall JCM, any suggstions on the settings to go with both on the amp and the POD? i know i just got to play around with it more and experiment, but figured i'd see what more experienced users have done with their setup.

Additional Question:
-i was pretty confused too in what should be the settings on my amp if i'm gonna apply the amp modeling... should all the settings suppossed to be in 12 O'clock?
Well normally yes, the 12 O'clock is the neutral possition. But nobody force you to keep it like this, you can tweak them as you like and use them as post equalizers of your sound.
Consider the EQ controls on your amp to be a "global" EQ. Set them wherever you want, and only tweak the POD for simplicity.
A unit like this is a tweaker's paradise. Be ready to twist knobs like a boss to get that sound you want. Don't be afraid of experimenting. It is YOUR sound, after all.
And again, just set and forget the EQ on your amp. ONLY change the EQ settings on the POD so you have consistency from patch to patch. If you run out of adjustment on the POD and need more, then you can tweak the amp EQ and then adjust your other patches around it.
thanks. i just discovered there are preamp models that sound better going out to amp. thats helped te sound a lot! i'll keep paying with the amp/pod settings. will hopefully settle down on the amp settings quickly and just use the pod to control it all.
And in case you don't know, change the output setup from direct/studio to combo and stack.
ah, i missed this earlier. i will check it out.
im a total newbie with effects, amps and generally any sound equipment...
would appreciate any advice from the community on how to connect my HD500 to my JCM 2000. right now i am going in thru the guitar input. the talk about 2 or 4 cable methods is way over my head. this amp does have an FX Loop, even though i have no idea how to use. any have any suggestions on how to connect to this amp? would the FX Loop be better than the usual guitar in connection on front?
The amp you are using is a great wee amp... try running the pod through the effects loop and using the amp distortion it'll be better than the pods.

if your amp doesnt have fx loop you have to use the guitar input in yor amp....Opposite to general consensus 12 oclock ITS NOT flat or neutral...try this eq in your amp : bass 0,mids at max, treble 0 and fine tuning with the presence....put the pod HD output setting in combo poweramp...maybe you could experiment with the studio/direct setting too.
For my personal opinion I do not think modelers work well or can do what they are designed to do feeding them to a guitar amp.
I run my HD500 into a rackmount BBE phase correction maximizer and into a 2 channel (stereo) power amp which goes into a 4x12 split cabinet.
Each and every model comes out with a fidelity you have to hear to believe. Imagine as an example a moderately different Fender Blackface or a Tweed on each side of the cab plus panning capability. Marvelous unit this HD. A real mad scientist lab.
I have a killer tube amp half stack with a huge pedalboard. I am integrating some of my high end pedals but not using the tube head.
My advice in using a tube head is try the 4 cable method Line 6 describes in their tutorial. If you are just going to go into the effect return bypassing the amp preamp then just get a power amp, convert to stereo L/R speakers and take advantage of the cool panning and split dual amp capability.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
