Will I need to update my DT50?

I'm getting my DT50 tomorrow. When was the latest update and how can I tell what my DT50 has? I don't have a midi interface and some of these post are making me a little afraid to update anyway. My HD500 has the latest firmware 1.4. Thanks
if your pod has already been updated i'd recommend updating the DT50 as well...
no idea how to tell what firmware it has without midi... but i'd assume it was alot earlier.
this update could affect the hd working properly through the line6link
you can get midi/usb cables for like 5$ on ebay...
i'd recommend getting the m-audio uno (@40$) because that's what L6 tests with and recommends.
Ok I ordered the m-audio uno (35.99 sweetwater). Is there a step by step guide so I do this right the first time? Thanks
this is the most important part:
get drivers from m-audio
windows will install generic drivers that kind of sort of work....
but they can cause frustrating errors and waste alot of time....
after that... pay attention to the ends when you plug it in...
some uno's say "to midi in" and "to midi out"
which is to say they are labeled oddly backwards...
because "to midi in" is the midi out of the uno... and vice versa...
easy to catch... just be sure to pay attention because it can trip you up...
after that just use line6 monkey like you did to update the pod,
it should ask you which device you want to connect to.
you can download the file here: http://line6.com/software/
and update from file if you are more comfortable.. but monkey should download and install fine.
of course the dt50 needs to be on...
can't recall if standby is good enough or not...
Ok midi in goes to dt50 midi out and midi out goes to dt50 midi in. Who comes up with this S%$#? hahaha. So I'll get the uno and download all drivers first. Then hook up to DT50 and turn it on. Then open up monkey? Sound good? Thanks man. You've been most helpful.
Do you know when the last DT50 update was? Is it 1.20?
not sure when the last update was... probably behind myself
but i've been playing mostly my practice rig these days...
but yeah its never in to in, or out to out.... ![]()
Yes, 1.20...UNO "To Midi In" goes to DT50 Midi In...UNO "To Midi Out" goes to DT50 Midi out...they are marked for where they go....not what they are...
yes... that's what i was saying ![]()
only you said it in a less confusing manner i suppose.
Thanks. Everything worked perfectly.
most excellent! let us know how you're liking it.
Does this update do anything for the dream rig? I'll probably update anyway, but maybe someone could shed some light. I've been using the uno for my drummer's octapad. We use the octapad to trigger Ez drummer in Sonar X2. It was a good multi purpose purchase.
doesn't do much for the dream rig really... but yeah love my uno... ended up way more useful than i thought initially.
Posting just for info, I have Windows 8 64 Bit and used the Windwos 7 64 Bit driver. After a reboot, I got the cable working.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
