Wish the HD500 had the FX from Boss, TC or Digitech

Another cool gig yesterday with the HD500, but the more I use the unit live, the more I hate the FX and EQ section of it. On top of this, the unit really needs an overal EQ, that allows you easily adjust the EQ of all patches depending on the environment you're playing. Had the problem yesterday, the club we were playing in had a lot of bass sound, so it would have been great to adjust this with an overal EQ, it must be possible

Before you jump on this thread, or if you're happy with the HD500 as it is, that's cool, but I hope you'll respect that others aren't!

let me explain. I've owned quite a lot of FX units in the past 25 years including the first BOSS GP-8, Quadraverbs, Digitech GSP, ... , TC NOVA,GT10, ALL L6 PODs versions up to now, and really love the amp simulations on the HD500, but a lot of FX on the L6 gear really suck imho, especially when you start to compare them to TC or Digitech FX, and also BOSS, especially on the Chorus and other Pitch based FX.

On my list of FX that really need an urgent update are :

- EQ

- Tremolo

- Chorus

- Pitch fx

I'm still thinking of coupling the HD500 with another multi FX to cover my needs, but that's another unit to cary and edit on stage, really hope L6 could adress this in the future or on new gear, it would make their products perfect.

Cheers,

Hans

Well it's nice to see a point put across in a respectful manner and I don't think anyone will criticise you for it - you have as valid an opinion as anyone.

Well I imagine that given the amount of EQ dissent that Line 6 will be working on this (and no, even as a so-called expert I do not know if they are or not). I agree an update is needed here, also in terms of the interface displaying freq rather than % etc.

I also agree on the pitch effects, but to be honest I would never use them even if they were the best so that's not an issue for me. I don't think the other effects 'suck' (sorry I really dislike that word, maybe because I'm a Brit), then again in your list I only really use Tremolo. I'm not a great chorus user - reminds me too much of the '80s.

I'm sure we'd all like the all-in-one box solution so as not to have to carry stuff around, I just don't think it exists. There'll always be something that doesn't fit our workflow or features that we don't like or need and other features we need and aren't there. You like the effects on the Boss, but I'm guessing you don't like the amp sims otherwise you'd use that as your all-in-one solution.

Maybe with some updates Line 6 can get close enough though. Who knows? Not me.

Yes, thanks for expressing your opinion politely and respectfully.

I neither agree nor disagree with your opinion - that doesn't really matter. What intrigues me about your comment is the constant search/desire that we all have for the 'perfect' piece of gear. Of course, that doesn't exist. But would we really want it to?

Imagine a world where everyone agreed that the perfect piece of guitar amp/fx gear was "X", so we all bought that and only that. I wonder how long it would be before there was no competition in the marketplace, and then we all start bemoaning the lack of choice? We are strange beasts, we humans. Personally, I'm glad that perfection is never realized because I don't like to imagine what that world would look like. I want different opinions that I can agree/ disagree with (respectfully!). Thanks for sharing yours.

Yes, I guess I think heaven would be a tad boring (not that I'm a prime candidate)!
