Which Amp?

So I have been a Line 6 user for awhile now. I have a Spider III 150 combo, a TonePort KB37, and Pod Farm with the Metal Shop add on. I don't enjoy the spider III as much as I used to now that I have metal shop. I really love the "boutique" style metal amp sims such as the powerball, deizel, and even the Big Bottom. But I do miss the feeling of cranking the amp and rocking out. The computer monitors just don't carry the sound the same as a 150 watt amp. What my question is, is what would be the best way of getting the tones that I want in an amplifier. According to the "Tone File Compatability Chart", none of the amps are compatible with Pod Farm tones. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if this solution could lead to the Bogner/Line 6 half stack, that would be an awesome bonus.

    Re: Which Amp?

Since you are getting the sounds and tones you desire from POD Farm, then I honestly would suggest getting a power amp - either stereo or mono, tube or solid state.  Hook your computer - (hopefully it's a latop or other easily portable device) from the HEADPHONE output jacks into the amp inputs.  Then connect the cabinets you wish to use and then all you need for live performance is the Line 6 FBV Shortboard MkII and use the USB connection to control the POD Farm patches in realtime like Wahs, volume, whatever you CHOOSE to have the pedalboard control.

The other option is to find a used POD X3 PRO which is exactly the same as having POD Farm 2.5 except in a ready to go rackmount 3-space unit.  This would still need a pedalboard for realtime control, but with this unit, you'd have choices of the FBV longboard, or Shortboard.

You COULD get a small PA system that you could connect to your computer if you only need to crank it up at home.  Even a pair of 1x12 or 1x15 powered stage monitors would work.  BUT, please keep in mind where you put these pieces as they are NOT shielded and will cause havoc with your hard drive and other magnetic components.

There are the choices you have based on your question and preference of sounds used.

    Take care,

    Neal
