Variax Acoustic 700 piezo and Podxt dead?

I was playing my Variax acoustic 700 a couple days ago, switched sounds in the middle of playing, and something happened - the third string now crackles every time I play it (as if it's maxing out the range). No other strings were affected and it hasn't gotten better with any other cords, amps, etc. On top of that, the Podxt I was playing it through also seemed to go - now produces a loud hum when turned on, even if no guitar is plugged in, and doesn't transmit the guitar sound. I was able to restore the Podxt temporarily by resetting the firmware, but it reverts each time and just produces the same loud hum again. I fear both are fried, and am not sure how to fix. I'm thinking I may be able to simply rewire the 3rd string piezo, but am not 100% sure this will fix it. Also have no idea how to fix the Podxt. Any suggestions?

If re-installing the flash memory on both units does not fix the issues, you will need to take them to an authorized service center to investigate the problem and repair as necessary:
