That sounds all very amazing and a bit complicated at first, but I'll have to fiddle with it to see how great it actually is, or how helpful in my case. Im pretty happy with the current amps, guitars and controls but I'm open to improvements!
One question though - when you say there will be two brand new guitar models, you mean amps or guitars? Could you elaborate on that?

Thanks for the info...
And a BIG thanks to Line 6 for this!
Glad they're working on the Variax/VDI stuff! To me it's the most exciting part of having all those guitars and all those effects if you can just hit a button on the HD500 to change everything.
And now knobs as controllers? Makes me rethink everything! Love it!
I need this to use the tone knob to adjust the delay level in one my patches today

does this mean, if you´re an owner of a pod x3 live the update with the new acoustics does only work in combination with pod hd? or will there be a firmware for the jtv?

There are two distinct firmware updates: one for the Pod HD500/Pro/Bean (v2.0) and one for the JTV line (v1.8). They each are compatible in the sense that the Variax knobs can now be used to control HD parameters, and are compatible in some other areas such as custom tuning. However, each update also provides some new features for their respective devices that are independent of the other. For instance, both provide new models (HD5 amp models, JTV acoustic models).
I am not exactly sure about the answer to your question but I expect that the update to the JTV acoustic models will allow the new models to be used and dialed in as usual with the Pod X3. These models simply replace the older models - it can't mean that there are simply no longer any acoustic models accessible with the X3. However, I wouldn't expect to be able to control the Pod X3 FX parameters using the JTV tone/vol knobs.
Hope that helps.
