External Tap Tempo with XTLive

Hi guys, I've been trying to look around the web to an answer to this for a while and found no luck. What's the deal with using an external tap tempo 'device', if we can call it that' with a Pod XtLive. I know about the expression pedal, but this is different.
Since I mounted my XTLive onto a flight case pedal board I've found it a real pain to tap tempos into the device, especailly if it's a sustained period of time I'll be doing it over with dynamic tempos in a song. Loads of other delay / mod pedals have the ability to plug in an external tap so that it can be comfortably placed nearer my feet when that's the only thing I'll be changing between songs, for example.
Any help would be greatly apprichiated, even if it's just a link to another discussion I couldn't find!
hello dan
the only way to send tempo values externally to your XTL is using a Midi controller
please see in page 2•8 of MIDI Continuous Controller Reference (Rev F) - English (http://line6.com/support/manuals/podxtlive ), Tap Tempo CC# is 64
