why does power supply get so hot when using variax 500 with pod hd500

My new pod hd500 has been acting weird (get stuck in a reboot cycle, shutting itself off)

and I notice the power supply is hot, much hotter than I ever noticed when using

the xt Live with my Variax 500. Do I need to get a bigger power supply?

Are you using the power supply that came with the HD500? The fact that it's getting warm doesn't necessarily mean anything other than that with the Variax attached it's supplying a higher current. But you shouldn't be experiencing reboots even with the Variax attached.

the xt and hd power supplies are very very different.....

xt is AC
and
hd is DC

the xt was region specific as well... meaning a different PSU was needed in the UK vs the USA etc

the hd PSU is universal and converts different voltages internally.

i'm not the least bit surprised that they would exhibit a difference between the 2.
