DL4 resistor question!  Urgent help needed...

My buddy has had a DL4 for nearly 8 years and his switches finally bit the dust. In a late night modding session I accidentally sliced off R29. I simply am requesting the value of that single resistor so that I can get his beloved DL4 back up and running. The mod went without issue - just switch 1 (far left) will not activate due to my incompetence.  We spent over a hour on his garage floor searching for the tiny component to no avail.

For the love of god...please help!  Would it be OK to use a "regular" 1/4 Watt through hole resistor gently soldered to the two top points or is a SMT resistor absolutely necessary?  I would assume it wouldn't matter because they're all resistors, right?

Thank you SSSOOOO much for any help given.
