JTV 69 piezo sound comes through on some electric models ???

I've been working with my JTV 69 for over a month now. Lots of great usable things in there!...BUT
I notice what sounds like the direct glassy top end of the piezo pickup coming through on some of the electric models.
Mostly the "Rockabilly" Gretsch, but some even on the Lester.
And most obvious on the low strings, E and A.
The Special,Tele, Semi for example all seem fine.
Anybody else? Any ideas?
Sometimes strings and picks will bring out some piezo characteristics. Try different picks, discussions on this topic in the past revealed tortex picks worked well. I use Elixr Nanoweb strings and they are great for taming those tones and they last for ages.
So, experiment with strings and picks, some work much better than others with the Variax.

Thanks..Makes sense. My default pick is already Tortex. I can't stand coated strings on electric, though. I use D'Addario EXP on acoustic.
But the deal is, it's not every model, just some that have the piezo sound on the low strings.
Try some other strings that aren't as bright. I believe the coated strings take away some of the high frequencies in the timbre of the string and that's what tames it.
I really haven't noticed it on my JTV69, so there's something I've done that stops it happening. What gauge strings are you using, I don't use ultra lighter than .10 to .46 on my electrics.
Also check that the bridge saddles and pickups are clean and making solid contact with the strings.

Yeah, but....like I keep saying, it's not ALL the models, just some.
I use 10-46 on 25.5" scale electrics. And I don't want to change to less bright strings and change how the magnetic pickups respond. I actually like the original stock mag pickups. Different than any other guitars I have.
Hey guys
I had a similar issue in my JTV 69 and then I discovered what was producing that strange overtones and glitches:
The little section of string that goes from the piezo to the ball of your string acts as a resonant.
Yes its really small but incredibly powerfull, you can check if is this just by tapping the string, rubbing your fingers on it or hitting the piezo.
If all this movements produce the same automatic tone/ring, you have found the cause.
How to fix ot? Really easy: Take little pieces of foam an insert it in the mentioned space (I do it with my pic) to kill that vibration.
I did it in every string and it worked really well. If you can get some grey foam it will be almost invisible.
I did a post asking for solutions months ago (here), I solve it myself... Line6 didn't say anything... (do you know how can I get this message to be read by the Line6 team directly?)
Well I hope it helps!!!
Keep on tweaking!
