Is there a way to stop the effects sooner?

i used to own the X3 live and i had a long delay going and it would cut off all at once when i pressed the delay button. im wanting to do this with the HD500 but when i stomp the pedal the delay is assigned to, the delay keeps going. any way to stop this or am i just out of luck? thanks.
