Sending POD HD directly to the amp effects return. Settings?

I have a Blackstar HT-5r and I want to use the POD HD500 without my the Blackstar preamp coloring the sound. To do so I will run the output of the POD into the effects return of the amp. Questions for the experts:

1-Which should be the Output settings?

2- How should I set the "1/4 Out" from the panel of the POD?

My guess for 1 is Combo Power Amp and Amp for number 2 but please chime in.

Thanks

If your amp has an open back "combo" style cab then set it to combo, if it's a closed back cab, go with the stack output setting.

But experiment, some people actually prefer going with the Studio Direct option.

You'll probably want to use the full amp models as your Blackstar power amp only has one topology.  But you might like to try mixing the modelled preamps with the Blackstar power amp.  It's really up to you.

You can also try selecting no cabinet in you patches to remove the cabinet modelling from the tone.

    Cheers,
