Updating Pod HD300 to 2.01: 'midi error 80009000' then crash.

When trying to update my Pod HD300 to 2.01 it came up saying there was this error relating to midi... I tried several times, changed USB ports, and did a factory reset on the pod. When powering up the Pod said it was running 2.01 but then it said DPS boot failed and the screen went blank. When I powered up Line 6 monkey it said that the latest software was installed, however my pod still had 'downloading' stuck on the screen. After that I tried the 'rollback' option and tried to restore it to a previous version. This was successful and worked fine... I then installed the correct drivers etc on a completely different machine, and tried the update. I got the same error message on this computer and after unplugging the pod, the screen once more totally blanked even though line 6 monkey said that the software had been installed. I therefore am going to have to restore to the previous version again, which will once more waste lots of time.
Can this problem be addressed in an update??? I have tried everything...
I reinstalled the latest USB firmware again, and the update installed successfully
I ran into this same problem updating my HD400. I originally used a Dell laptop and then got the failure. I switched to a second laptop made by Lenovo. This time it was successful. I'm not sure if it was the USB ports on the laptop or if it was just the 2nd try that made the difference. Just thought I would pass this along in case anyone else hits this.
I've tried 10 times now, and I keep getting the same message. The HD300 won't boot at all now, it's dead.
Everything in Monkey is up to date, I've tried another usb cable, still the same error message;
Please advice.
Try using another computer if you can.
If the problem persists I suggest you open a support ticket:
I've got the same problem since I've tried to update the firmware.
I've got a "DSP boot failed" everytime I boot up my HD400.
I'm not able to downgrade the firmware because Line 6 Monkey dont see my Pod anymore !
I've tried to boot it in safe mod.
I've reinstal the factory settings and after the calibration : same problem. White screen on the Pod & not recognize on my PC.
I've tried to use differents cables, different USB ports, 2 differents computers : nothing work !!
For information, when I've updated it to 1.31 version, I've never had any problem.
What's wrong with the 2.01 ???
Two things
Try reflashing using Firmware 1.31 then immediately flash the version up to 2.01. If this does not help (or you cannot do it at all) ...
Try a factory reset: Hold down the A Footswitch and power up the POD. Beware! This will wipe any existing presets that you have hand crafted but may help reset the POD. If this works then try the firmware updates suggested previously.
Cheers
JIM
Thanks for your answer, but I've ever tried it.
1. I can' reflashing the firmware in 1.31 because L6Monkey dont see my Pod anymore
2. I've made a Factory reset, but after the pedal calibration, nothing change
I've also tried to boot up factory reset & launch L6Monkey together.
Nothing work...
I'm desapointed...
You don't need Monkey to flash. Download the drivers from the website and run. That is, if the computer recognizes your POD.

you DO need monkey to flash...
just not for the computer to recognise your pod.
Thanks for the correction, Zap. I knew you could install Edit & drivers w/o Monkey...thought that applied to flash as well, but I stand corrected. Thanks.
Sounds like you might need a support ticket...two machines...same issue...might be a problem with the pod...
One shot in the dark...boot up POD holding A, plug in USB...wait 2 minutes...launch Monkey 1.58...flash the firmware...Not clear if you tried this safe mode flash or not...seems like you might have...
After doing that, it took a while longer for the error message to appear, but the result is still a dead pod. I've created a support ticket yesterday.
thanks
Jan
Same problem here. Just created a rather long support ticket. I tried to make it as detailed as possible.
I have tried it on 2 Laptops (Compaq Presario and ASUS F42, both Windows 7 SP 1), and on a legacy desktop (using the rear USB ports, of course).
I realize the problem lies in my HD300 being unrecognized, even by Windows, even if I try to force-install the "correct" driver. If only I could manually flash firmware to it without having to recognize it, I think i could make it work again. Or if there was a Full Factory Reset option (going back to the original firmware, of course).
Hi !
Today, my problem with my HD400 has been resolved by the Service Center in Ghent (Belgium).
Im' very lucky because i live not so far from them & I've bringing it this morning & recover it in the begining of the afternoon.
They need to change the motherboard !
Now the 2.01 firmware works !
Soldano sounds great !
Thanks Line 6 for the great service
Best regards
I mailed Serge, so I'm hoping for good news from him. If it has to go to him, I'd have to send it though, Gent is a long way for me. I'm hoping I can do this at home myself.
hey guys, this error is caused by the power settings in your laptop. That is why its working on some computers and not others.
On your windows 7
1 click on start
2 click control panel
3 click system and security
4 click power options
5 choose any power plan ( I go with High Performance)
6 click change plan settings
7 click change advanced power settings
8 click usb settings
9 click usb selecetive suspend setting
10 change both settings to disabled.
This fixes the problem. Windows 7 on most computers has the enabled which limits the amount of data it allows to pass through the usb port and closes it off after a short period of time to save power. These files are quite large therefore windows 7 is shutting down or slowing down the ports before the entire file is downloaded therfore causing the error. PLease add a post to this to let me know if this works on your computer also. Worked immediately on mine..
Those settings were already disabled in my computer. My hd300 is still not working.
And still nothing works, no update on my ticket either. Does anyone else still have problems?
And still I have a non functioning HD300. I'll contact Serge in Belgium for repair as mentioned, since noone here seems to have either the same problem, or a solution
same happened to me.
Can't even reset so now the piece of crap doesn't even boot anymore.
What to do now?
Get actual help or throw away the thing.
Waiting for months for this update and then this happening doesn't really make me a fan.
I booked studiotime in 5 days.
Can I get it fixed by then or will this cost me a shitload of money on useless studiotime.
Reading these previous posts doesn't make we want to ask support since it seams to be non-existent.
It's been almost a week since my support ticket was updated. I was asked to change my language settings to english, but that didn't help either. Still a dead HD300
It seams like line6 is either understaffed or simply doesn't care about their customers. I see very little solutions given by line6 people in these forums.
I got word from our local L6 service man that the motherboard needs to be replaced.

Line6 does not use the forums for support matters.
if you want to hear from line6 go here: http://line6.com/support/tickets/
if you want to hear from users that may have comments, solutions, experience, or just plain ideas... the forums are the right place.
The last response, which didn't fix it, to my support ticket was from August 1.....
I heard the solution, as offered by our local service guy, on this forum by a user.
Decide for yourself what is the best place to seek support.

Don't get me wrong... the forums are a great resource.... Just not the best avenue if you HAVE to hear from Line6 directly.
not to mention there is always the phone... it does work, i've used it myself a few times...
as with any company timing is everything and hold times vary etc.
When you download the Flash file , save it to disk. When you run Monkey, load from file ,not the internet. The normal process seems to time-out after some period of time.
Using windows7 64bit sp1, I tried updating from v1.10 > 2.01 and received the midi error. While screen still displaying "Downloading..." I tried to rollback to v1.10 and recieved midi error again.I then exited monkey and restarted my hd300. Luckily it seemed to be fine and back to v1.10.
Here are changes I made to successfully flash v2.01:
1) Disabled real time anti-virus(microsoft security essentials) and set "usb selective suspend" to "disabled" in power settings.
2) Disconnected hd300 usb and installed drivers v4.5.4 over top of original v4.5.7.
3) Reboot pc
4) Reconnected hd300 usb into different port(happened to be a usb3.0 port this time)
5) Right click on monkey and selected "run as administrator"
6) Flashed 1.10 >1.20>1.31>2.01 consecutively from files on computer(no restarts,no factory resets,no closing monkey)
7) Success ![]()
Hardware and software used:
Core i7 2700k
Gigabyte mobo z77MX-D3H
Windows 7 64bit sp1
monkey v1.62
drivers v4.5.4
usb firmware v1.01
note: I did a factory reset before first failed attempt. Did not do any factory resets after that.
