Spider IV volume drops

Hello,

I have a problem with my Spider IV. When i'm playing my spider the volume suddently drops down to the point where you can hear the sound just barely. But when i'm changing the presets, the volume goes back to normal. This problem occurs at random moments. Sometimes after ten minutes of playing but  sometimes also as soon as i change a preset. On the display of the Spider it shows the symbols of when you change the nobs. I did a factory reset but this didn't solve the problem. Does anyone else recognize this problem or has a solution to it? Would be very grateful for a reply!

I just Bought an hd 100 mk 1 head from a retailer open bx, floor demo i got a great deal, after 20 mins of playing my tone drop to a tin sound, went to a line 6 repair center hear in florida and i needed new tubes and some other work, because it was covered under factory warrenty, all got fixed for free, and it rocks like new out of the bx

It may be knob movement - loose/easy-to-turn control knobs can move just enough from playing to 'wake' them up.  Before hitting yoru preset switches, turn all knobs down to zero.

If the problem persists, then there may be something that needs to be looked at by a factory service center.

ibz's answer above does not apply to you, as there are no tubes in a Spider IV.

      Re: Spider IV volume drops

I think I'm having a similar problem with my Spider IV 75w amp. My volume is extremely low. I have to crank it higher than I ever would during normal play just to hear anything at all. Heres what happened...

It was working just fine about an hour ago. I turned it off for a while and started messing around on the Spider IV Edit in "offline" mode. I then connected my laptop to my FBV Express MKII through the usb cable and turned my amp on (I'm pretty sure I did it in that order). I double clicked on one of the settings I downloaded from Spider Online Tones, expecting it to automatically transfer to my amp like usual, but it didn't. So I clicked the "send selection" button on the editor and it went through. Up until this point, I hadn't played a single note since I turned the amp off an hour ago. Bam! No volume... From the speaker or through direct out. I tried everything I could think of besides a factory reset to fix it. Switching channels, turning it on and off, disconnecting the power cable, disconnecting my laptop from my FBV pedal, disconnecting the FBV pedal from the amp entirely, checked all the volume, boost, and drive settings, used different guitars, different amp cables... nothing seemed to work.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it but I just remembered that at some point during the hour the amp was turned off, I turned it on without connecting it to the guitar or connecting the FBV to my laptop. Just the a naked amp basically. And out of curiousity (wishing it had a secret dual tone mode I never knew about), started pushing two channel buttons at once (A & B, B & C, etc).

I'm not even sure if any of that is the cause of my problem, but I figured I'd give a bit of detail anyway.

EDIT: Factory reset fixed. Still not sure how it happened.

I suggest downloading the Spider IV Edit software and saving your presets to your computer before reseting it.

mine dose that too. (kinda burps-wether i touched the amp or not)  i got it last summer 2011. i think humidity/heat make it worse cause i dident happen all winter and started up again this summer, and less if the A.C. is cranked.... as long as its just the knob drifting a bit. and not the software crashing idk. if you step on the preset on the mk2sb quckly it resets it in 1/2 sec. (some tap-dance live right.).. i like this amp. i traded my 3 for a 4 and now im thinking spidervalve... just one more  think to make me move on up.... J.
