Upgrading from a Spider 2 (150 watt) to a Spider 4 (75 watt)

Hi everybody,
As the title suggest I am seriously thinking about buying the Spider 4 75 and just wanted to know if there had been many general improvements to the amp to warrant upgrading? One poisitive I have seen is the downloadable tones and updates but is it true you need to buy the MkII FBV to do this?
I am not worried about the fact the Spider 4 is only 75 watts as that is more than enough!!!
The main reason I have been thinking about it is the fact one of my current Spiders speakers have developed a constant hiss and I was going to replace the speaker but I then just thought about buying a newer model.
So let me know what you think, good move/bad move etc...
Thanks for reading

Good move - definitely! Line 6's amp modeling and FX have advanced considerably in 2 generations. Yes, you will need an FBV MkII controller (Express or Shortboard) to update the firmware and download more tones, and also access the easy-to-use Spider Edit software.
Note - a 'hiss' in your Spider 2 is unlikley to come from a speaker problem.
Thanks for the reply, any idea what would cause a hiss then?? I thought it was weird becuase I play pretty low at home but assumed it must be a dodgy speaker. Glad to hear the latest gen stuff has moved on and now I think my mind has been made up and I m gonna take the plunge and buy one.
A 'hiss' or 'white noise' could be caused by a bad cable, a faulty ground between guitar/external pedals/amp, or from an internal component. I assume you do not mean that the speaker makes noise just when you are playing, but it is a constant noise.
Yeah its a constant noise from when I turn the amp on, you cant really notice it when playing but would prob pick it up when recording mic`d up! Thanks for the help I will investigate further down the right path now.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
