Strange popping and cracking issue

I've read just about every post on this forum and can't seem to rid of the popping and cracking noise when using Pod Farm 2.
I have a PodXT hooked up to my Macbook Pro.
I'm pretty sure it's not a processor issue. My CPU usage is only 4.5% when I hear the popping. Whenever I change the buffer size in either Pod farm preferences or System Prefernces, the popping goes away for a few seconds and returns. When I re-open Pod Farm preferences, it doesn't seem to save my buffer setting.
PodXT driver version: 7.1.7
Question: did you upgrade to Mountain Lion yet? I did almost immediately when it came out yesterday, and since then I have had the same issue
Yes I did. I guess we will have to wait until they update the drivers.
Hi,
You have probably read both of these pages before, so forgive me in advance if you have. Just in case you haven't:

I suppose though that its more likely to be the driver issue, like in the post I saw adaniel87 posted on:

Hope you guys can get into some playing/recording sometime in the near future.
God Bless,
David
I also started having a similar problem since upgrading to Mountain Lion. Although mine is specifically only making this strange popping/cracking sound when running Pod Farm 2 in Garageband... if I run the stand-alone Pod Farm 2 processor window I don't have the issue. I have the latests drviers and everything installed too.
Hi Chris,
Do you know if this new lion has more things running all the time? There might be various things people could turn off from running, which might give the recording programme and pod farm, more cpu.
God Bless,
David
I can answer that. No, that's not the problem. At least, not on the user level. It is very likely a problem with the drivers
Hi everyone,
I came here looking for answers to the same problem and so far didn't find any. However, when I opened up Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices under System Preferences I saw that my USB Audio Streaming buffer size was set to Extra Small. I increased this to Medium and the problem instantly went away. Please try this and see if it solves your issue, it may be a one-time solution but if it works for everyone then I'm sure it will save a lot of headaches.
EDIT: I may have spoken too soon. It appears to solve the problem but after a few minutes, the problem returns. So I suppose that won't work. Hmmmm...
This didn't work for me ![]()
I'm also getting the popping and cracking noise after upgrading the Mac OSX to Mountain Lion. My interface is the Toneport UX1 and I use GarageBand for recording. I have updated to the latest drivers and still no resolution. I have also noticed that the Line 6 Monkey app no longer is detecting the Toneport. At this point I'm assuming this is a Line 6 driver issue and hope it gets resolved real soon or I'm not going to be happy.
Hello,
Just wanted to chime in saying that we have received your inquiries and are aware of this audio issue of using our hardware as an audio interface on Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
We will make and announcement when we have further info or resolution to the problem.
Best regards,
Line6Hugo
Same problem here
Thank goodness it's not just me! I have the same problem - like the rest of you, updating the drivers and fiddling with the buffer size has not fixed it.
I'm sitting looking at a very expensive thing that doesn't work!
So you've tried the latest Mac driver v7.1.9 (released today) which reportedly fixes distorted audio playback on Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion?
I've updated the drivers, but nothing is fixed for me... I'm very very very disapointed and I'm not going to wait for another two months to have an new driver that may not even fix the issue. This might be the end of a 10+ years use of Line6 products.
Edit : in fact, each time I hit a key on my keyboard (not the piano type, the azerty/qwerty type), sounds pops, skips, stops, bumps...
