Well if you didn't back them up, yeah.

That's why you always want to back up stuff that's important to you. Put it on your computer then back that up too.

For example, my server drive just took a dump the other day but lucky for me I had just finished backing it up a few days before so it was no biggie. Was it really luck or just common sense?

The lord takes care of those who take care of themselves and never forget that Murphy is always lurking and lookin to get ya. Just ask me how I know. LOL

Don't know about how much to fix it. That is if you can find anyone who can or will fix it. It's getting so you almost have to be a technician or something just to own a Vetta anymore. I don't think Line 6 has anymore interest in it.

they don't link service manuals to the public... your best bet is to contact a service center, they have access to the service manuals.

But they should. The fact that they don't is disgraceful especially for stuff that they no longer sell or support.

Until they do, I'll never buy another Line6 anything.

so be it... i personally don't think they are too far out of line by not making the design documents available to the public and/or their competitors.

i think you'd find this is more common than just line6.

Re: Think my transformer/power amp is fried...

Design documents for a product that is obsolete and one that they no longer support. Get real.

Trust me when I say that there is nothing at all unusual in the Vetta  design. In fact the reason I bought the Vetta I have in the first place is because it is just about exactly what I thought a guitar amp design should look like in this day and time.

It's not really the hardware design, it's the code for it that is the real proprietary bit but there are tools around to disassemble that kinda stuff too if you're sufficiently motivated.

If a competitor really wants it, they can get it easy enough without Line6 putting their customers though so much BS and using that as a lame excuse.

BTW may of the parts like the DSPs have been superceded by better models now but you can still get them from a lot of sources the specialize in obsolete parts. The rest are common garden variety parts obtainable from many traditional electronic component source.

In the end, there is no good reason not to provide their users with the support they should and not doing so is doing more to harm their market share than not. From what I've seen so far, customer service and after sale support in the musical instrument business is really crappy by comparison to other markets I know that none of you would stand for it for one second with the cars, computers or anything else that you all buy. Their attitude is just plane crappy and the only reason they can get away with it at all is because all the dummies out there who put up with it. Pretty much the same reason why Washington is in the mess it's in today too.

yeah because every pedestrian do your self electronics expert needs a map to help them burn down their house quicker...

although i'm sure you are more than pedestrian from the nature of your request... i'm just saying i disagree about these things being public...

i really don't think you'd have too much effort in calling, discussing with the service manager and asking....

i'm certain they deal with these requests frequently for out of warranty type repairs....

try it... it will take less time than typing back the monster post in your head telling me how stupid and wrong i am
