I love the new 'doom' model but i am disappointed with the slo, help!

Hey guys, i just dl'd the update and im a little disappointed. I love the new doom model but the slo100 lead is wayyyy to bassy/boomy and i cant seem to dial it out. Ive tried eqing and sticking a tube screamer in front of it to no avail. I just feel like it doesnt sound anything like the slo i played through, no of the cab/mics seem to work well with it. I wish theyd include new cabswith each update. anyone else have this problem?

I have not spent alot of time with it yet but I to was a little deflated by the SLO model. Does anyone have any patches to share for the new models? The couple That I have tried weren't that great. For my setup anyways.

This may be a stupid question, did you try the low cut in the cab parameters?

i did, after i went through the dep parameters i was able to get a sort of usable tone but still too much bass.low cut 51 kz res lvl 70 decay 30 thump 35, it sort of works.

I'm presuming that you're using it Direct, what are you plugged in? I use studio monitors and never had the problem with bass issues that many complain about. When I used to play through the real world 4x12, I don't ever recall putting the bass past noon, many who use 4x12 in the real world will have the bass at zero....Line 6 modeling is intended to be identical so 4x12 in general are all bassy even at noon.

    That's a guitar amp, what I would do is try different output setting in the POD. GO to setup by pressing VIEW button then for mode chose "combo Front" and adjust the Low, Focus and High. You can set the low to about -100.

ive done that, and it sounds better.... but its weird because the jcm800 model and engl sound better in direct mode

try combo power amp for the output since that is what you are running into

  I felt the exact opposite.. the Slo model was the fiirst one I DIDN'T fnd to muddy/bassy it was virtually perfect without any tweaking...just throw in a couple reverbs (room for realness and chamber for fullness) and it's ready to go... the JCM 800 on the other hand is waaaaay to muddy nothing like the 800 I played thorugh a few years ago...the 800 Preamp only though is fantastic...

Whar you're playing through will have a huge influence over the tone of the full amp modelling. Try it with a FRFR amplificarion system using studio direct and try getting your Tech 21 to match that. You may need some outboard EQ to get it right.

Also, a modelled guitar amp speaker going into a real guitar amp speaker can have a multiplicative impact on frequencies. Try selecting "No Cab" and see how that goes.
