All Sorts of issues with UX1

Greetings everyone!
I recently bought a UX1 off of some dude on Craigslist. I had previously had it up and running just fine, really enjoyed it. However, about a week and a half ago, my wife downloaded some system updates for the computer and different peripherals (she doesn't remember which ones but we are running Windows 7 if that helps.) Ever since then, I haven't been able to get it to work. I would plug in and any sort of string hit would just result in nasty static in the headphones, nothing musical whatsoever.... Not even suitable for dubstep ![]()
I have since tried uninstalling and reinstalling each and every component the whole way through.. Line 6 Monkey... Gearbox... Podfarm.. Podfarm 2... No dice. I had the most up to date version of Monkey downloaded but it wouldn't open. I uninstalled that and downloaded an older version (1.59 I believe) and that works just fine. Now when I try to install Gearbox or Podfarm it's saying I don't have the correct drivers or anything like that.
What do I do?
Hi,
You could try reverting to an old 'restore point' in windows.
Here is a page that tells how to do this in windows 7:
http://computertutorialsonline.com/how-revert-back-restore-point-windows-7
This should allow the computer (system etc.) to go back to how it was before the system updates (if you select the restore point that was before the update).
It might even have all of the podfarm/ux1 drivers installed etc., but if it doesn't recognise the ux1 etc. after returning to the older restore point, then try reinstalling the drivers and see if it works.
Depending on how long ago it made a restore point, you might lose some other system settings you might have made later. Hopefully Windows created a restore point right before the updates ( I think it would have done it then).
I hope you manage to get things working again,
God Bless,
David
Reverting back to an older restore point did not solve the problem for some reason. The oldest restore point I have on my computer is from just over a week ago. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled every single component pertaining to the Toneport, even uninstalling and reinstalling Line 6 Monkey. GRRR!
Can imagine your frustration.
Does it give any audio when playing audio files etc.?
No it didn't. I have since uninstalled everything Line 6 related and am waiting to think of a fresh approach before I try again.
Maybe worth contacting tech support (unless you have already), ( top right of page, 'support', 'contact technical support', 'contact technical support' )
Have you tried plugging in to a different usb socket in the computer? Again, you might have tried that already. Sorry if you have ![]()
Just one other thought: I know sometimes people have had sound settings change for some reason on their computer and have had to go into sound settings etc. and adjust things. Have you checked the playback/recording devices settings in windows? Just in case something has changed in there, although I suppose that would mean no sound wheras you are getting static etc. , so I suppose its probably not that.
Hope something comes up that works,
God Bless,
David
Have you tried your headphones and guitar on something else?
OK I ended up calling tech support and we figured out the problem. Thank you for your help though, I really appreciate it! I am having a great time now with my stuff! ![]()
Ugh I just turned my computer on today and tried it and am just getting static again. I ran through a couple things and in License Manager it said I was not authorized even though I have already authorized the UX1?! I clicked the authorize button and it's bringing up Error Code 80000002 Invalid Parameter? I don't know what that means.
Hi again,
I have read the following on an old post from Line6Don:
Code 8000xxxx errors are an indication of a USB connetion problem. I would suggest to try all available USB ports and possible a new USB cable if possible. If you continue to receive code 8000xxxx errors, review and exhaust the suggestions available in our USB audio troubleshooting FAQ at the link below:
http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-4282
and Line6David said this:
Hi, This issue could be related to a number of things. First check your connections. Have you tried connecting to different USB Ports? Are you using a USB hub? Make sure you have the latest drivers installed: http://line6.com/software/
Then try the optimizations in our USB Troubleshooting Guide:
http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-4282
Thanks, David Line 6 Customer Support
hopefully something there might help. I have had a couple of times when my ux2 has made noises or something and it seemed to have been the usb cord somehow not in the back of the ux2 correctly...although if I move it around normaly it doesn't affect it, so I don't know why it has done it in the past.
Anyway,
God Bless,
David
i've got some issues with my UX1
it stop working randomly, even when i just listening some music (in winamp for example) or watching a youtube video (i use Chrome)
And it has happened every time during the music or video, not at the beginning... so it really ****** me off...
I've got my UX1 for 2 years now... this is something new...
system: Win 7 (64bit), latest updates installed.,
Chrome, Winamp, etc.
UX1 latest updates installed
My DAW is Ableton, Sometimes i've got issues too when i run PodFarm first, than close and switch to Ableton...
Any Idea what is going on ???
Hi Csoti,
Could it be the usb cable? Maybe (you might have already tried) you could just slightly move the plug side to side a bit and see if it stops it working.
Not sure what could be happening. Maybe some updates for other programmes are interfering with it.
Let us know if anything helps.
God Bless,
David
