It can be done, but you have to invest in another piece of equipment. You'd need something like the MIDI Solutions Event Processor or its big brother the Event Processor Plus. This would allow you to filter out the PC and all the CC messages except for the tap tempo CC. I use one of these with my pedalboard to control the Strymon Timeline tap tempo by the M13's tap switch. (I do some other things, too, but I won't get into that here).
