I imagine that you could if you set the HD500 as your input and the Focusrite as your output. How you would do that would depend on which DAW you're running in to. Like I just use my HD500 as my interface when I'm only doing guitar stuff, and if I don't mute the playback monitoring(I forget the actual term, I hope you know what I mean) I hear the guitar played twice. It theoretically should work.

Why not just plug the POD into the focusrite via 1/4" or XLR? You'll get better latency that way, you can choose to monitor however you like, you can record and playback on the same monitors without having to change anything, etc and so on.

The USB is there for people who dont have a decent interface already.

        You do, so use it.

hmmm, I wouldnt think that would be the case.

If you are using it in a place with lots of interferance and cables longer than 20 feet or so, it would make a difference. In the basement/bedroom, there is little to no difference.

I have used my 300 live into a PA with 2 50 foot 1/4" cables without any noise too, so Im gonna say that isnt the problem. Maybe the amps in the monitors? Maybe some sketchy gain staging if you are using USB, since you likely arent using the Master volume in that case... if it is set too low your S:N ratio is going to hell and you will get hiss that way...
