POD HD500 & JTV Variax Problem?

Hey, I'm double posting this in both the POD and Variax forums because I'm not sure what the problem is. Saturday I brought my new JTV59 to practice and played it through my POD HD500 to great results. At a bandmates suggestion, I put down the JTV59 and tried to play one on my regular Fenders and could not get the POD HD to respond, I unplugged every cord/connection, powered down and powered up and the POD would not recognize any regular guitar...it still played the JTV59 fine, but this has me quite concerned. Has anyone else had this problem?

you'd have to adjust the input of your tone.

  Yeah I know that the levels would be differen, I have patches set up for my Tele and patches for the JTV59...the problem is the POD wouldn't even recognize a non Variax guitar after using the Variax...I tried 3 different guitars and not a signal at all.

    It's not just levels. Check that the HD input mode is set to do both Variax and Guitar if you want to use both with the same Tone ...

      exactly... the if your tone is set to a variax input, the tone will ignore anything plugged into the guitar input.

        Thanks, i will double check those tonight. Is it possible that when I tried out the Variax when i first got it, would the HD edit automatically change a patch to a variax input based in the VDI cable being plgged in?

        Can't remember for sure but I thought the default setup is Input 1: All sources and Input 2: Same no matter what you have connected. So unless my memory is wrong it looks like you may have changed it or you started with a tone that was already different from the default? But where ist came from is irrelevant as long as we can get you going . I got tricked by this one several times in the past as I must have changed the setting w/o noticing right away.

        it is impossible, the HD settings never change automatically, even if you plug a variax by the vdi cable..
        the input settings are part of each patch, therefore they change depending on the patch, unless your system input settings are set to "global", in which case the patch input settings will be bypassed and only the global input settings will be effective..
        ------------------------------------------------------
        in case you want to know it, the default input settings are:
        input 1 source: guit+aux+variax
        input 2 source: same
        
        with the above settings the guitar in, aux and vdi will be all active and working at the same time
