Hi, i'm connecting the pod directly to headphones. Which ones should i normally use, the full amps or the pre amps on the pod?
Thank you
Marco
Full should be used for headphones
... and make sure the HD500 Output mode is set to Studio.
Thank you both ![]()
I actually have another question.
Let's say i download a patch that uses pre amps on the pod settings.
Considering i connect directly to the headphones and that i should use full amps because of that, is it possible to change to the full amp and keep all the amp settings (drive/bass/etc) similar? Or the fact that i'm changing from a pre-amp to an amp will require different settings to achieve the same result?
Sorry if it's confusing. Basically if i download a pre-amp patch and change to the respective full-amp keeping all the pre-amp settings will it work well?
*IF* it works... your theory would be more than likely right... (tone is ALWAYS subjective)
keep in mind though, switching from pre to full, may go over the DSP limit... and the tone may not work at all...
It will work fine. Will it hcange the tone? absolutely. Will that change be an improvement? hard to say..... but it will certainly work.
To tonal topic, sure, it might sound different, but it will sound different for you anyways, regardless of the amp state, because no one knows what output method was used by the author if you download a preset. Since i've got the HD Desktop and use headphones most presets have a way to less bass for my taste. And that might result from my output device. So i mean, interchanging presets is a nice feature, but you'll most likely have to manaully fine tune them anyways.
I'm not sure, what you mean by "it will work fine". It will certainly not keep your settings if you switch from a Pre to a Full Amp or vice versa if you changed the settings (i.e. you've loaded a preset). Somehow, for me, it always fetches the settings for a specific amp i've had upon booting the device. Just try it, for me, it works somehow, but certainly not nice. Maybe it is different on the HD 500, i don't know.
So, if you run into the same problems, you can tryout to set the pre amp to a full amp directly in the preset using my tool (or vice versa): http://www.jzab.de/content/pod-hd
Cool, that's awesome, had no idea that tool existed
Will try it thanks ![]()
