Line6 Edit Problem iMac Snow Leopard

Hi,
finally I have got the software to see my podPro by purchasing a Midisport Uno.
Problem is, I can't edit the sounds.
If I turn the knobs, there appears to be no change in sound on any of the perameters. Then, if I change the amp, all the controls revert to the original settings.
I checked a video of someone using Line6 edit on youtube (albeit on windows) and it worked ok for them so....
I have to say, this Line6 thing is getting pretty tedious and I'm close to giving up and selling the damn thing.
Is this a "Java" problem?, It's something that keeps cropping up on forums about line6 edit
any help gratefully received

Graze,
Obtain from the internet & load up the freeware Midi-ox, locate your midi device (in options) and see if data is coming into your computer from the pod.
Here's what you should see when you turn any of the pod's knobs
(Years back I never had any issues using the old E-magic software for the pod :- Sound Diver)
hi
I can download the patches from the pod and upload a patch that i have downloaded so I guess it's seeing it

That sounds hopeful.
& Yep I can do that on an old Windows XP PC with a midi to gameport cable (using the gameport connector on its soundcard, soundblaster live), its just the Midi-USB connection for a new compuetr where I hit problems.
Hi
I can't change the amp model though, it defaults back to "Tweed Blues". Why is this so glitch ridden ??
This is driving me NUTS!
What the hell am I doing wrong?
I'm giving this another 4 days of trying to sort this out and then it goes. I can't deal with the aggravation.
Graze
