Variax - Vetta Connection

Hey,

I have a Variax 700 and a Vetta 2. Both are new and up to date.

I have been using a Variax connection cable between them both. Only recently the Vetta has been making a hissing sound and a crackling sound on and off... it appears to be the cable.

Is there any other advice or info on this please?

Not trying to sound flip, but wouldn't it be time to buy a new cable?

  I figured it is most likely the cable... was kind of hoping not due to it only being a week old...
  I work with electrical and data as a living and know that the flexible cable used in the connection cable are prone to issues.
  was more or less wondering if anyone was having similar issues with their cables, or if it was a software or hardware fault.

    I haven't had a problem with mine persay. However, if you have a length of ethernet cable laying around, try that and see if you're still getting the popping sounds. If so, then you'll know it's not your cable. On the plus side, if it is your cable and it's only a week old, you should be able to return / exchange it.

      There are no issues using a standard RJ-45 cable as opposed to the variax one?
      Yes i definately intended on returning it if it buggered.

        No issues at all. The only real difference between the VDI cable and a standard RJ-45 is the VDI has been ruggedized. I wouldn't recommend playing live with a standard ethernet cable, but it will work in a pinch.

Line 6 connection cable was U/S. proved not equipment with standard RJ-45

    Nah they took it back they are gonna give me a yell when they get a new one. which'll be good... i thought they'd put up more of a fight.
