so basically you want to use your pod simply as an audio card?..

if so, yes, it's possible to record any mic signal.. in the case of a mic'ed cab I would say to eventually add only the POD FXs that make sense placed after an amp..

but if you want to use your mic'ed cab signal with any FXs (that normally go before an amp) or with a modeled amp or pre-amp, you'll get very strange results.. because in this case your initial signal in the chain is already processed by your real amp/cab... if you need some experimental sounds for some horror movies you can give it a try..

in my opinion if you want to retain your cab sound and at the same time use all the POD FXs in the best way, just connect your POD to the return input (if any) of your external amp, and chose the right POD output settings,... or even better for a more complete and versatile solution use the 4CM (do a search in this forum to find this cabling method)..

then mic your cab and send that signal to an audio card..

the POD EQs are not the best in the world but they works quite well..

just use more your ears and not too much what you see when you tweak them, and probably you'll get what you need quite easily..

watch out for the signals volume levels before you get to the EQs, because they can distort..
