malnack
I've got a JTV 59P, DT25, and a HD500 (connected via L6 cable). Since I use a G30 wireless, I'm not using my VDI cable. I've decided to add two items to my rig and I'd like some advice on setting them up. I plan on adding an acoustic amplifier for the songs in the set that I use an acoustic model and I'm also adding the Electro-Harmonix B9 pedal. How would you recommend setting this rig up? I was planning on running the B9 output into the same amp used for the acoustic patches. I don't necessarily need both the DT25 and the new amp at the same time, however it might be fun to have the keyboard sounds coming from the B9 in addition to the guitar signal from the DT25. I could get an A/B/Both switcher to toggle the Variax signal into either or both amps. I assume it is possible to set something up in the HD500 where the signal is not sent to the DT25. Would I also be able to set up a patch where the signal is not sent to the acoustic amp? I assume it would be easy to send it to both. Any help will be appreciated. MartinDorr
Seems like the best place for the B9 is the HD500 effects loop placed early (if not first) in the effects chain. I could see a light compression and signal level adjustment before it to get optimal tracking and sustain. If not mixed with guitar sound you probably want to treat it effect- and amp-wise like an accoustic guitar. ... and that leads into how you want to connect your accoustic amp used together or individually with the DT25. I am afraid I have no experience on that topic. Will be interresting to see what others have tried and experienced. Martin
malnack
Thanks Martin. I hadn't thought of running the B9 into the DT25 chain. I'm thinking about picking up one of these: http://www.tonebone.com/re-bigshot-aby.htm and then running the B9 into the acoustic amp. I thought the B9 might sound better there but it is worth trying it into the DT25.
MartinDorr
Have not tried, but I believe there is another option if you limit yourself to one or a few DT amp configurations you run together with the accoustic amp: You should be able to place the A/B switch into the DT effects loop as A looping back and output B to the accoustic amp. The limitation comes into play because the DT power amp configuration can vary up to 19dB volume wise and if you'd balance by adjusting HD signal level your accoustic amp won't be able to match whatever the DT does, i.e., you can only pick 1 or maybe very few DT configurations that match volume with the accoustic amp. The beauty of this setup would be simplicity. Be careful with levels and start low. Not sure anyone tried this. Combined with a MIDI controlled AB switch you may be able to drive all of this with the HD500 and single push of a button.
