JTV 69 Pick Guard

Recommended Posts

Funny, I've been thinking about the same thing, and had even printed a template Strat pick guard to see what I could come up with. I'd go a bit further to bring the pg around the bridge, as on a Strat, and take some of the points out from the JTV design.

All in all, the JTV is a sonic stroke of art, but the aesthetics of the guitar--primarily the pick guard and headstock--are poor. That headstock is amateurish and ugly in its design, and the pick guard is crude. It suffers from being, I think, an attempt to avoid looking like the Strat pick guard.

While waiting on my maple neck replacement i was curious as to what a strat style pick guard would look like. I cannot draw for crap with a mouse but thought you may be interested :)

its a gif, click on image to see animation

Is there any way to order a maple neck from Line 6? I'd kill to have the guitar in the image.

Don't think you can buy the neck separately but i posted a pic of mine with replacement maple neck in the below link. Love the look and it plays like an absolute dream.

Far more value in the other aftermarket options out there anyway, imho.

I think the headstock is great. I'm glad they didnt go with the tired out, strat headstock . To each his own, i guess.

I'd go further and claim that i like the pickguard too... perhaps for exactly the reason you don't like it....

i like that it has more of an offset (jaguar, jazzmaster, et al) look than a strat look.

at least the HSS version the SSS version totally looks like an afterthought, and it doesn't work for me.

i also like the headstock... just be thankful it wasn't more like James Tylers own guitars....

now there's some ugly for you.

Amen...those headstocks look like the illegitimate child of a canoe paddle and a field hockey stick.

That's what the 69 headstock looks like to me. The 59 (from the 500) is nice.

Well, I'm going to have my 500 neck transplanted onto my 69 body, and vice versa. Then I'll sell the 569.
