alainL
Hi to all, I own a Pod GX since 4 years and I've always wondering about input level (stand alone version of PF). I know that there is no way to adjust the input level of PF stand alone compare to the plugin version. In fact, I was wondering if my device has been defective since I bought it. I use a strat and my input level is somewhat a 25% of the input level (see attached picture) when I play the loudest. Do you experience the same? or it is the normal input level. To get decent level, I have to put a compressor as a first effect in chain set with unity compression and adjust the level as desired. Thanks for your feedback. P.S: I've already posted this request a few years ago, the answer was about the way that the device calibration it is, but i'm not convinced these days... jjRocker
I think it´s like it should be.I have a Toneport DI and the input looks the same when using a guitar with singlecoils. It all depends how strong your guitar signal is.When using vintage singlecoils or humbuckers the output of your guitar isn´t as strong as with modern pickups. The pickup height also influences your output.I use a strat with Fender 57/62 pickups in neck & mid position and I´ve set the pickup height very low so input level was even lower than yours. I also put a compressor or a TS (gain at 0) in front of a clean amp to boost the inut. I´m also curious what others do.
alainL
Thanks for the feedback. So, it is the way it is. Case closed! I wish the stand alone version had an input volume control like the plugins or maybe input level control at the driver stage. Anyway, will not be a very big deal since i'm buying a tube preamp for my condenser mic (Presonus or TubeMP). So I will use it as well for my instrument to level up the gain slightly. Actually what I really like with the GX and PF is the Tone Direct feature. Not that I have a lot of latency in plugin mode, but when you record with headphones, it pays to have 0ms latency.
