HD500X Midi Tempo Sync from Tempode

I have a Molten Voltage Tempode which allows me to sync tempo across all the midi devices on my board.     It works fine for everything except the HD500X - sort of...

Once I send the tempo change signal, everything syncs except the HD500X which requires me to hit one of the footswitches.   The moment I do that, the tap tempo light syncs properly and all is good.     Seems pointless to have that extra step though.    According to Molten Voltage, the Tempode sends out MIDI Start, Stop, and Clock commands.

I also discovered that if I have the HD500X sitting at the 6/10 Setup screen (Midi/Tempo), it will sync immediately.     But the moment I'm not at that screen, I need the extra step.

Any clues as to what I could possibly do to correct this?
