How can I use my POD with my Engl amp?

Hi there,

 

I have a POD HD500 and a Engl fireball with 2 channels. Clean and Gain.

I've hooked them up with the 4 cable method.

Now, I can only use one channel from the amp, in my case the gain channel.

I have to model my clean sound.

Is there anyway I can use both?

I'd like to have the clean sound and the gain sound from my amp...not just one.

Well yes you can use both channels of the amp. But you would have to switch the channels of the amp as well. One way to do this would be to get a RJM MIDI channel switcher that allows you switch your amp via midi. So the POD would send a MIDI command to the RJM when you switched patches. Yes a little convoluted. But that would be the only way to use the 4 cable method and be able to switch patches and channels on the fly.

 

Now you could do without the MIDI switcher, but you would have to manually switch the amp and the pod to get the channel and patches you wanted.

Can I also use, or perhaps, better use the z11 from Engl?

Btw, it's a fireball 60...not a 100. 

I don't know if there is any difference in the back for connections..
