Adding A Separate Wah Pedal

This might be a dumb, or even lazy question, but I'm looking for opinions as well as an answer. I have a Dunlop Zakk Wylde wah pedal that I really like and would like to add it to my DT50 212 and HD500 setup using the L6 link. What is the best way to add this pedal and does it show up in the signal chain somehow? Would this now free up my POD expression pedals to do other things as well? Thanks Fellas! I'm really beginning to learn a lot and lovin' it!!!!!

Since a Wah pedal is typically used early in the signal chain there are basically two good ways to do this, I think.

1) Put your Wah pedal before the HD500 in the signal chain, i.e. guitar -> Wah pedal -> HD500. In this case it will not show up in the HD500 signal chain because it precedes it.

2) Place your Wah pedal in the FX Loop of the HD500. The FX Loop (and hence the Wah pedal) will show up in the HD500 signal chain and you can place it where you want with respect to other FX and pedals.

In either case you can assign your HD500 EXP-1 and EXP-2 to do other things.

If you want to experiment with placing the Wah pedal later in the signal chain you could place it in the FX Loop of your DT50.

Wah pedals are usually placed early in the signal chain.  Placement could be as easy as putting it in front of your HD500.

Another option would be to set an FX loop early in the HD500 chain and put it in there.  By doing that, it would show up in the HD500 FX chain and would give you more flexible placement options.

Thank you both for the quick response and great answers. It's what I sorta figured, so I guess I'm really on the right track -  but wasn't sure and I did not know at all if the additional wah would show up in the chain. I could have just tried it, but I'm wary of plugging anything into anything until I'm much more confident in what I'm doing. Stuff's too expensive!!!  lol!!!!
