Charlie_Watt
The HD500X becomes your sound card so it will allow you to play songs through it with any app that uses the sound card. I do this all the time.
samsgs
I do not play through my laptop, so, sorry I can't help with that. Was wondering if you would mind sharing your site for backtracks?
bjnette
EDIT is for editing patches. You should be able to run the laptop sound card output into the aux in on the HD and listen via HDs headphones. Easier to download a month free trial of an excellent fully fledged Audio Recording Software called REAPER. $50 or so for life no future upgrades to buy.Very well supported and often improved pgm. There are also Audacity audio editing software. Free These will recognize the HDs audio driver

Charlie_Watt
When the USB is plugged into your laptop, the Pod can become the sound card. You can then play all sounds from your laptop through the pod into whatever amp / speakers you have hooked up to your pod.

Charlie_Watt
Yes you got it. Be careful first time. It may be very loud in your headphones. Start with the PC Soundcard volume turned down.
yaronnir
it's very simple: - connect your POD through USB.. - make sure your PC is using the POD as the main audio interface.. (use the windows sound control panel to check it).. - connect your headphones or your monitors to your POD.. - double click on the audio backing track to start automatically the media player... done! many thanks
still_fiddlin
If you want to record your playing, Audacity, already mentioned, can work well, and simply, for what you want to do. In that application, you'll want to set the Preferences so the POD HD is both the input and output device. Then, you monitor with your headphones plugged into the POD HD. Drag and drop the backing track into Audacity, and you can play along with it. Add a new track and click record if you want to save your playing, then export the result as an audio file. On a MacBook you could use GarageBand, and not need to install Audacity, and, of course, you could use any DAW, like Reaper, if you choose. If you change the default system audio device to the POD, and then turn your HD off, any open applications (iTunes, other media players) may or may not automatically get redirected to the default system audio, i.e., laptop speakers or plugged in headphones. That's why I like to use a specific audio/recording app with its preferences set to the POD, vs. changing the system settings. Of course, if you keep it plugged in all the time, it can work fine as your "soundcard," but I don't keep mine set up that way!

cruisinon2
What nice site was it? This thread is nearly 3 years old... don't be surprised if you get no response.
