I've read/seen in so many articles/videos that the HD500fx sound Is superior through the fx loop. I have a old jcM 800/fender bassman combo and a vox ac30. None of these amps have fx Loops. Before I make the purchase, I was wondering how much loss will I get connecting through the front INput jack of these amps? The hd500fx will be used primarily as a stomp box, no Amp modeler enaBled for the most part. Thanks for any responses guys.

If I was to use amp modeling. What would be ideal way to setup in front of amp? I heard there are "pre" settings.Don't know if that would be Good running into the front.

As noted above, your ears are the final judge - but bear in mind if you use the full amp/cab models, you're running a sim of an amplifier and speaker INTO an actual amplifier/speaker.  Personally I've found it to muddy up the waters, sonically.

Personally I'd start with the pre's - set the amp as clean as you can with eq's flat.  Start dialing in your tones, going to the amp eq only if needed (i.e. you find yourself cranking the highs ridiculously on every patch).

There's no real right or wrong...... whatever works.

Try starting out using the cleanest setting on your Amp. Example drive set low, tone stack and volume at 12 o'clock. Be prepared to make adjustments to the mixer in the HD500. Try putting a volume pedal after the mixer. Try honing in on the amp model or effect with the Pods master at 12 o'clock. I use "Combo Front" in the Pod and set the Highs and Lows to flat (the highs & lows can always be cut), and adjust the mid to see what gives.

Also, I set up with the guitar volume at it's lowest setting. The pods 1/4" out set to "AMP", the Guitar in at "Normal" and Guitar In Z setting at 3.5m.

Good luck and have fun.
