cathy_ohhh
Hello! I've got a Yamaha APX-6 electro-acoustic guitar which has, since I first purchased it in maybe 2002 become rusted at the battery. I'm not sure how to fix this, since getting a new battery won't solve the fact that the part it attaches to is damaged (see picture). Any advice on how to go about trying to fix this problem and where I could replace damaged parts? Is it possible to get parts and repair oneself? I'm out of my depth! Thank you, Catherine
phil_m
First of all, these are the Line 6 forums, not Yamaha (even thought Line 6 is owned by Yamaha now). So you may have more luck going to a Yamaha-specific site. Anyway, though, that looks like something a good service tech could pretty easily take care of. thirdring
You have to take the preamp out and solder a new battery connector. You can buy the battery connector here: https://www.banzaimusic.com/Battery-Snap-I-IND-FULL.html While you are doing this is should also do a revision on the APX6 preamp, you can download the guide in pdf format from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-8-tjpvVqN-NG9MNEFMOWVoRzA
psarkissian
Check for Yamaha authorized service and repair in your area. Also, there is Mark Wright Music in Northampton. He knows his stuff, and is good with guitars. He was my opposite number at Line 6, UK, When we had a location there.
