Pod Xt And Pod Farm?

Recommended Posts

I have a POD XT, with the 'Triple Deal' Models Pack installed.

I am considering purchasing POD Farm 2.5.

What are the advantages of using my POD XT with the POD Farm application?

Is it worth the investment?

Depends on what your workflow is.

POD Farm will not control or edit the PODxt, you would still use Gearbox.

But if you purchase POD Farm 2.5 hardware independent (not i-Lok), you will be able to use POD Farm will virtually any USB ASIO device.

You also get the plug-in, so you can add any of the tones in your DAW post processing, for me that is worth the price of admission.

Also, with the plug-in or standalone you can use up to 10 effect per chain (for a total of 20) in any order.

So for me a typical workflow would be to monitor the wet with the xt will capturing the dry, then I add the POD Farm 2.5 plug-in post processing.

'Thanks' for answering this post...

The workflow you mentioned in the last line...Could you please explain the 'wet' and 'dry', etc., in more detail?

I was considering purchasing one of the audio recording devices...

Any recommendations?

'Thanks,' again!

In the Line6 Audio-MIDI control panel you can select what is sent to your DAW.

Select the Inputs & Recording tab and from the drop down tyou can select "send clean guitar".

This will send the "dry" guitar signal to your DAW.

Although you are sending the dry signal, you will hear the processed signal though the PODxt.

Then after you are done recording you can add the POD Farm plug-in.

(You can actually do a hardwae re-amp with your PODxt but it's not quite the same as using the plug-in).

The PODxt is a recording interface, since it seems you are a bit new it, it would be difficult to recomend another interface without knowing your workflow, budget, and needs.

I'm considering purchasing one of the 'Line 6 Studios', the UX1 or UX2...

This way the POD Farm software will be included, and it will give a better recording platform to work with.

Q: Would I be able to use this version of POD Farm with my POD XT, as well?

I'm a Home Guitarist/Recording Hobbyist...Workflow and Budget really isn't an issue.

Your continued help with my many questions is very much appreciated.

you should probably just buy the pod farm license by itself.

pod farm won't add much to the XT anyway since its not an editor (use gearbox)

but the XT can be used as an interface, and if you're looking to use pod farm to record, then things will be simpler if the XT interface would work for you.
